John Buck, D.Mgt., is the Associate Dean of Students at Webster University in St. Louis, MO, where he oversees housing & residential life, counseling, student health services, and WebsterLEADS, the University’s leadership development program. Buck is also an adjunct associate professor at Webster, where he teaches courses on leadership for undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, he is a founding partner of From the Balcony, a training and development consultancy, whose clients have primarily included non-profit organizations, including over 20 institutions of higher education.
Buck holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Colorado State University, a master’s degree in management and leadership, and a doctorate in management, both from Webster University. He has become a frequent presenter on the topic of decision making during crises on college campuses, which was the topic of his dissertation and continues to be his primary research interest. He serves on the executive board of the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) and has been recognized on state, regional and national levels for his work advising student leaders and organizations. In 1998, he received the Hallenbeck Lifetime Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH), Inc.
